Frequently Asked Questions 〰️
I'm a qualified Somatic Practitioner, and although I can work with anyone experiencing dysregulation of any sort - I am specifically interested in working with people in the helping professions who've spent years being the reliable, capable, high functioning ones who everyone else leans on, until they've lost touch with who they are underneath all that giving. There is a strong link between helping professions, people-pleasing, hyper-independence, self worth, and life satisfaction. My work is embodied processing, which means we go looking for where the patterns and triggers live in the nervous system, in the old survival reflex that fires before you've had a chance to think, and we process it there. After processing the patterns at the root, people find they are able to show up for the people who need them without disappearing themselves, and they free up their capacity to remember what they actually wanted before they learned how to be needed.

What exactly do you do?
What is Embodied Processing and how is it different to talk therapy?
2
Talk therapy is often about understanding your story and reframing your thoughts about it. My work goes underneath the story, to the trapped emotion, the subconscious belief, the pattern actually running the show, and works with it in the body, where the emotional charge of the trigger is held. That's the difference: talking about a pattern can help you understand it, but it doesn't always shift it. Embodied Processing goes to where the material lives and works with it there, so the shift is felt, not just understood.
I'm not a psychologist, and I don't position this work as a replacement for your regular therapist or as treatment for a specific diagnosis.
What happens in a session?

We start with breathing and orienting, a simple grounding practice to get you present and settled in your body before we go anywhere. From there, I help you find a resource, a place, memory, or sensation, that you can anchor into for safety, so your nervous system has somewhere steady to return to throughout the session. Once you're anchored, we invite in whatever's asking to be processed, and work with the trigger directly: tracking sensation, working with beliefs, moving through fight, flight, freeze or fawn responses, whatever the moment calls for. We stay with it until it finds real resolution in the body, not just in your understanding of it. To finish, I use coaching questions to anchor the shift into something tangible you can carry into your actual life, not just something you felt in the room.
My one-off sessions are single, focused sessions for something specific: working with a pattern of over-giving and burnout, enmeshment with workplace drama, boundary issues with clients, inability to switch off from work, building confidence in a particular area, finding resolution in a looping relationship dynamic, or processing work stress, to name a few. One-off or ongoing sessions in these targeted areas work at the root of the pattern and give you real relief, just without the ongoing support and coaching between sessions.
The Reclamation of Her is a 12-week personalised program for deeper, root-level change across your patterns, beliefs, and relationship with yourself and your life as a whole. It includes Embodied Processing sessions plus ongoing coaching support between sessions via WhatsApp, so you're never working through what comes up as you implement your action steps on your own.
